Integrated MSK Services
Chorley and South Ribble and Greater Preston CCGs are commissioning a community integrated musculoskeletal (IMSK) and related conditions service for the local population. The IMSK service will ensure that people with MSK and related conditions have access to high quality, effective and timely advice, assessment, diagnosis and treatment appropriate to their condition. The model will be based on a single point of access structured around a smooth patient journey and seamless, evidence-based integrated care pathways. Shared decision making and patient self-care will be embedded throughout.
Specifically, the service will include the following disciplines: Physiotherapy; MSK assessment and treatment; Rheumatology; Persistent MSK Pain Management and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome service.
The IMSK service will maximise patient mobility, function and quality of life for patients with both short and long term conditions. This will include ensuring effective pain management
Across the Greater Preston, Chorley and South Ribble area
A pseudo competitive dialogue was used to co-design the services with a range of selected potential providers, leading to final bids being submitted. This service is to provide Integrated MSK Services across the Greater Preston, Chorley and South Ribble area to include Physiotherapy; MSK assessment and treatment; Rheumatology; Persistent MSK Pain Management and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome service
The procurement was evaluated against a financial model measuring the 5 year substantive contract at a value of 35 000 000 GBP. The financial cost is reliant on a mixture of payment approaches and transformation that makes the values for years 6 and 7 difficult to assess - however the overall contract value including the 2 year extension option is estimated to be no more that 49 000 000 GBP.
